Team Philippines Captures its first gold medal, 3 days after the opening ceremonies of the 16th Guangzhou Asian Games in China. It was brought to us courtesy of one of our power keglers, Biboy Rivera.
Biboy, who's real name is Engelberto, won the Men's singles event, the centerpiece of the bowling competition's single events, I should say. Unfortunately, and as we all know by now, many of our fellow Filipino supporters and casual fans, weren't able to witness the historic mark.
As of the moment, we have one (1) gold, and three (3) bronze medals. But it is good that early in the competition, we are already at the gold medal column.
More medals are still up for grabs, though our chances for gold/s is relatively not that strong. Still, there is boxing, wushu, billiards, taekwondo, and of course basketball.
We'll keep you updated.
